John Shanahan

A Community Honor: Thank You for Your Support

A Reflection on Gratitude

John Shanahan, the owner of Lighthouse Window Cleaning, has the honor of being recognized as Placer Valley Businessperson of the Year. Receiving this honor has made him reflect on the last 18 years since starting his own Window Cleaning business in the Placer region.

An old boss of John’s once shared an impactful quote: “Surround yourself with excellent people and get out of their way.”

In 2008, John lost his corporate job and found himself unemployed with five kids. He had washed windows in the past and bought some basic equipment to start his own window cleaning service.

Local Chambers
Franklin Burris was his next-door neighbor and invited him  to the Rocklin Chamber breakfast.  At that time, Franklin was the president of the Rocklin Chamber. John found immense value in the chamber, and through new connections, his business began to grow. He thanks Franklin for introducing him to the power of our local Chambers. John has since been a member of the Roseville, Rocklin, Loomis and Lincoln Chambers.

Team
Dave Ferry and Paul Kirtley lead the Lighthouse team of 15 technicians. Dave has been with Lighthouse Window Cleaning for 16 years. His leadership and his work ethic have been inspiring to the Lighthouse team. Paul has been a team leader, bringing 15 years of experience and leadership. Tessy and JD keep the office running smoothly. John is thankful to provide a foundation for employment and benefits to the Lighthouse Window Cleaning team.
